Who is behind Chickens and Scratch Tallow Company?

Hi, I’m so glad you’re here! I’m a mom, teacher, avid cook and baker, and homesteader living on 10.5 beautiful acres in Dixon, Illinois. Our days are full of raising meat animals, gathering fresh eggs, and preserving homegrown vegetables—living close to the land and close to what matters.

My journey into tallow skincare started with a simple goal: to keep my family healthy and free from the chemicals hiding in so many modern products. What began as small batches in my kitchen has grown into a passion for sharing truly natural skincare made from real, nourishing ingredients. I believe in the power of traditional, time-tested remedies—and tallow is one of the best. It’s simple. It’s effective. And it’s made with love, right here on our homestead.
